Hillary Buckman, the Editor in Chief of Ocean Magazine, just sent me through this very well written article they are featuring in this months Ocean Magazine.
Journalism at its best and they nailed every detail perfectly in what has ended up being a nice and concise snap shot of North Star Cruises and where we have come from.
Nice work Ocean Mag! 🙂

I have just been notified by Channel 7’s presenter, Belinda Wilkinson that the Cendrawashi Bay feature from their True North cruise a couple of years ago will play on Today Tonight on Monday evening after the news.
Above is a bit of a teaser that will be promoted over the Telethon weekend.
My wife and I recently bought a very cool new place in Bicton which I have been slowly but surely getting prints done up, stretched and mounted, which is for sure transforming this great new place of ours into a home.
My latest bit of joy was to successfully stretch a 2 x 1m print of Wynyalkin on the feature wall in our entertaining area.
Printed by my good friend Christian Fletcher and stretched by my good self. This is for sure the largest stretch I have tackled and it came out a treat!
I have probably already done up 10 prints for our new home, so am getting pretty adapt to doing the stretches quickly and efficiently.
Tomorrow we are all off to meet True North on Thursday for a brand new cruise in Cendrwasih Bay in West Papua.
I will be posting live each day with photos so stay tuned to the blog and Facebook to see our latest adventure.
I was very privileged to attend the inaugural Click West Photo Competition last night as a sponsor which was held at the Hoyt’s cinema at Carousel.
The event was the brainchild of Ric Mc Donald and was organised by he and his wife Ailsa.
What a great event and to see all of the talented images up in all their glory on the big screen in full HD and very sharp.
North Star Cruises offered a cruise on our Montes Extravaganza cruise next year as one of the major prizes and the lucky winner of that cruise was Tracy Leigh in the Portfolio section.
Her images are featured above and a very big ‘WELL DONE’ from me to Tracy and all the winners of this years competition.
For those of you who didn’t enter this year, I would very much keep an eye out for the Click West Competition next year as the prizes were numerous in numbers and also excellent in quality.
Apart from the cruise on the True North, there were prizes such as a new Canon 5D MK3, a sutio light kit, and Eizio monitor, printers and all sorts of goodies to wet the appetite of any keen photographer.
So, again a very big thank you to Ric and Ailsa and I look fwd to seeing the competition grow in the years to come!
North Star Cruises is pleased to announce another celebrity photography cruise featuring renowned Portrait Photographer, Joel Grimes, all the way from USA!
Joel’s work can be seen here.
Joel has a very unique style and has a client base featuring movie stars, musicians and sporting personalities, here is a cruise on the True North that will give you a unique opportunity to be coached by a portrait master over the 7 awe-inspiring days in Papua New Guinea!
As an added attraction, North Star is currently offering some very attractive booking incentives.

I will also be joining the cruise and will be available for general photography tips and landscape tutorials for anyone interested. Other photographers who have done the AIP cruise include Christian Fletcher, Flemming Bo Jensen, Rodney Thomas and Nick Rains and all have raved about the True North experience and how pristine the country is.

On the way out of the very famous area of Milne Bay, we were treated with a large thunderhead forming just at sunset, which made for a dramatic scene to our departure.
The bottom image is of a little Pikinini, playing with a comb wondering ‘what the hell am I sposed to do with this’!
If anyone out there is a keen diver or snorkeler, maybe you would like to join Lee and I for a cruise on True North. We are doing the first Rowley Shoals cruise this year, which we call the Coral Atoll cruise 1. The cruise departs on the 25th of September and returns on the 30th.
Details can be found here but I can tell you the Rowleys would be up there with the best diving and snorkelling you can do on the planet!
I have been diving now for 35 years and I have dived on most of the iconic places on the planet and am yet to find somewhere that has the clarity and consistently great dives and snorkelling as the Rowley Shoals.
There are heaps of cool photo opportunities as well, both above and below the water.
Anyone interested, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org

Christian and I will be posting a few images each day from the boat, time permitting, so you will all be able to follow us as we go.
I am sure that everyone knows where Christian’s blog is, but just in case you have found my site on google and you don’t know Christian…his blog is: Christian’s Blog
